The Highest Standards. Both Sides. Fully Represented.
Brokerage back to its roots. The way it was always meant to be.
Wall Street found yacht brokerage. Private equity followed, and what it built looks like brokerage from the outside. From the inside it operates differently: volume over relationship, brand over broker, and a fiduciary standard that answers to a board of directors before it answers to a client. Not one of those board members has ever held a broker’s license, so the house manages to a bottom line rather than to the craft, and when doing the right thing costs money the spreadsheet wins. The docks consolidated the same way. The person who answered the phone was replaced by a machine, and the broker who used to call you back never does. Most of these owners built companies of their own. Corporate is the thing they are trying to get away from.
Spencer Christopher Yacht and Ship Inc was built the other way. It is an independent house headquartered in Stuart, Florida, built by a broker for brokers and clients off a 31-year book stepping out of a franchise and into ownership. With over four decades of cumulative experience, our goal is never to be the biggest yacht brokerage in the world. Our goal is to be a yacht brokerage where the client is always put to the forefront and the experience is the best. We do not want to be the largest yacht brokerage in the world; we do want to be the most efficient. We want it to be the best experience for our brokers and for our clients.
Blending traditional white-glove, hands-on service and modern technology, every broker here lives on the water and has built a career on it. We pride ourselves on being comprised of USCG captains, former yacht crew, engineers and mechanics. The knowledge that guides an owner correctly through a transaction does not come from a training program or a prospectus; it comes from years on these vessels and in these markets. Yacht brokerage is an apprenticeship, and the houses that got it right were run by brokers who had done the work. We hold money, vessels, and trust that belong to other people, and how that is handled when no one is watching is the whole business. The highest standards apply to every transaction, both sides fully represented, and the broker whose name is on it answers for it. Major decisions go to a vote of the house — who comes aboard, who stays, the president’s title included — and seventy percent carries. We are a modern house with old-school judgment, and our goal is not to meet a client’s expectations but to exceed them, so that the experience of buying or selling a vessel is as good as the days spent on the water. None of that is new. It is how this was always done, before the roll-ups and the refinancing rounds got hold of it. We do not measure ourselves by how many boats we move, but by whether we earned the right to be called again, and recommended to the next owner.
Yachts for Sale
Market search, accurate valuation, and an offer structured to protect your position. A red-carpet experience from the first hello to the closing. Spencer Christopher Yacht and Ship is comprised of brokers who have run vessels like the ones you are considering, and can tell you firsthand the difference between the listing and the boat.
Sell Your Yacht
We take your listing from agreement to closing — photography, pricing grounded in real market data, and outreach targeted by builder, class and buyer profile. No listing goes public until we have stepped aboard, and the highest standards apply to every vessel that carries our name.
Support on Every Front
We don’t just toss keys. Entire companies were created to support SCYS. Sea trial and survey are coordinated, attended and assessed by the people who have worked on and run these vessels, not only sold them. The findings come back to you without a sales filter on them.
In House Closing Department
A client’s money, their vessel and their confidence in the house are treated as sacred. Escrow and closing are held to the same standard as every stage before them: documentation reviewed, both sides fully accounted for, and the commission secondary to the obligation. Every time.
Consulting
Consultation on the financial management of yacht operations: what a vessel costs to run, what a refit is likely to carry, how the escrow and closing are structured, and which lender, underwriter, surveyor or yard fits the situation. The number matters before a purchase as much as after it — and a valuation is not always a sale.

Your yacht, our focus.

Motor Yachts
Production and semi-custom motor yachts, brokered on either side of the transaction — valuation, sea trial coordination, survey management, escrow and closing.

Sportfish
The market this brokerage was built on — custom sportfish, tournament convertibles and the yards that trade alongside them, handled end to end.

Center Console
A major part of what we broker, and a growing one. High-performance center consoles from the custom and production yards buyers ask for by name, handled to the same standard as a sixty-foot convertible.

Trawlers
Long-range cruising hulls, bought and sold by people who understand what a passage-making boat has to be able to do and what its survey has to show.

Downeast Yachts
Lobster-boat hulls and the builders working in that tradition — a market where provenance, yard and refit history carry as much weight as the specification.

Superyachts
Represented by people who have run these vessels. Former professional yacht crew, seasoned captains and certified marine engineers — the same fiduciary obligation, at the scale where it matters most.
Represented by people who have run these vessels.
Above a certain length a yacht is a business as much as a boat — crew, class, flag, refit history and running cost all sit inside the transaction. The people who represent them here came up on that side of the industry: former professional yacht crew, seasoned captains and certified marine engineers.
The obligation does not change with length. Valuation, survey, escrow and closing are held to the same fiduciary standard as every other transaction this firm handles — and neither our clients nor their vessels are confined to a single market.

The questions we are asked most.
Spencer Christopher Yacht and Ship Inc is at 408 S Colorado Ave, Stuart, Florida 34994. The office can be reached at 772-280-4600, 9am – 9pm.
We work across the full range — from 10-foot tenders to 220-foot megayachts — organized into three divisions. Sportfish and convertibles covers tournament-grade builds, express sportfish, and custom Carolina and Gulf Coast hulls with particular depth in the bluewater fishery market. Center consoles span the leading production and semi-custom builders, a segment that has grown considerably in both scale and sophistication, with offshore-capable hulls now regularly exceeding 40 feet. Superyachts and motoryachts handles displacement and semi-displacement designs, raised pilothouse builds, and full superyachts for buyers and sellers who require discretion, thorough market knowledge, and end-to-end transaction management. We represent buyers and sellers across all three divisions, working the Eastern Seaboard and the Bahamas. Whether the search begins at a dock in Palm Beach or ends at a shipyard in Maine, the standard of service is the same.

Yes, and it is a significant part of the business. Buyers and sellers of high-performance center consoles are represented across the custom and production yards alike — Yellowfin, Invincible, SeaVee, Freeman, Contender, Midnight Express and others — handled to the same standard as a sixty-foot convertible.
Around a hundred, across the three divisions: custom sportfish and convertible yards such as Rybovich, Merritt, Jarrett Bay, Bayliss and Spencer; high-performance center console builders; and superyacht and motoryacht yards. A selection from each is named on the homepage.
