Brothers Roy and Ennis Merritt opened a repair and charter yard in Pompano Beach in 1948 and started building their own custom sportfishermen in 1955. The 37s and 43s they turned out through the 1950s and 70s — alongside Rybovich — are where the modern fishing yacht comes from. Now a third generation, building 43 to 86 feet.
