The credentials behind it all.
Spencer Christopher Yacht and Ship is eighteen months old. The career behind it is thirty years, and this is the page about that — the licences, the sea time, and the people the founder would rather you asked about than him.
Christopher Cooke, company boat washer.
Christopher Cooke has been active in the Recreational Yacht industry since 1995 and has held a Florida Yacht and Ship Broker License, bonded, since 2000. He is a Certified Professional Yacht Broker (CPYB), a member of the International Yacht Brokers Association (IYBA), (YBBA), and (ABYC) and holds a U.S. Coast Guard 100-gross-ton Master license, unlimited. He is also a highly decorated veteran, having served as an Infantry platoon medic with the U.S. Army’s 1/87th Infantry Battalion, 10th Mountain Division with combat tours in Somalia and Haiti.
The best part about Christopher is if you meet him and don’t know him he will probably introduce himself as the company boat washer. That’s where he started and he will tell you that is where he wants to finish his career. Christopher is much more worried about his team’s credentials than his own. He takes pride in the fact that his Yacht Brokers have been in the industry and traveled the world just as much as he has; and in some cases, many have more miles than him as well.
He will tell you his success comes from never being the smartest guy in the room. His success he will boast comes from his ability to assemble an amazing team of people. They are all handpicked, forged and motivated to operate as a team, not as individuals. There are diesel and outboard marine mechanics on his team, professional tournament fishermen, marketing executives from New York, business consultants from some of the best companies in this country, retired doctors, retired attorneys, well-seasoned million-nautical-mile captains, and retired Coast Guard officers that make up what he refers to as “his family.”

Every broker has been in the industry and travelled the world; in some cases they have more miles than the founder does.
