Megan Murphy grew up in South Carolina, where life revolved around the water long before yachts entered the picture — boating, fishing, and riding jet skis on the lake near her childhood home, earning her boater’s license at fourteen, and competing as a year-round swimmer and lifeguard. Boats ran in the family, too: her brother built custom sportfish boats for Gambler, giving Megan an early, insider’s view of real craftsmanship on the water. That connection has never left her — nearly every trip as an adult has centered around it, from diving and snorkeling to sailing through the Mediterranean, Turkey, Greece, Ibiza, Italy, and France.
After earning a degree in Business/Marketing from the College of Charleston, Megan was recruited to New York City as Marketing Director for a leading real estate tech company, then co-founded Get The People — an award-winning branding and digital creative agency in Manhattan — at 28, running it for over a decade. When she later moved her family to Miami, she reconnected with the water, and that reconnection turned into a career.
Megan’s yachting career began on the charter side, personally chartering hundreds of yachts for clients in the world’s top destinations and building a firsthand understanding of what makes a charter exceptional. She combined that with her marketing and community-building background to produce and host yacht-based events, deepening her ties across the industry. That foundation led her to earn her sales license in 2021, and she has since built her career with some of yachting’s most respected names — YachtLife, where she was a top charter broker within her first year, Burgess, and United Yacht Sales, where she closed her first yacht sale in 2023 — before launching her own charter brand, Mega Yacht Megan. Today, she brings that full-circle experience to her work as a yacht broker with Spencer Christopher.
Raised around sportfish boats, Megan specializes in yachts ranging from 40’ to 100’+. Her global network means she has, as she puts it, “a guy — or girl — for everything,” from marina slips to crew to deliveries across oceans. For clients purchasing with an eye toward chartering, she offers guidance on which yachts perform best, the realities of operating costs, and true revenue potential.
Megan was named among Women in Yachting, honoring the industry’s top female professionals — but what her clients mention most is the full-service experience she brings to every deal. She puts her network of marinas, captains, lenders, and industry contacts to work for every client, start to finish. Buyers know she’ll search to the ends of the earth to find the exact right boat; sellers know they’ll get a broker who is meticulous about every detail, from how she prepares and runs a showing to how hard she works to get their boat sold. And through all of it, clients say the same thing: working with Megan is fun. She brings energy, warmth, and a genuine enjoyment of the deal to every transaction.
Outside of work, Megan is a mother of one — a 10-year-old sailor in the making. She’s the Miami chapter lead for HeyMama, a community for moms in business, sits on the board of the Ladies of Little Lighthouse Foundation, and is an active member and ambassador for Summit, a global community of entrepreneurs, creators, and investors.
