Buck Pegg had left dentistry for his father's fibreglass shop a year before he and Reggie Rose started Chaparral in 1965. The 15-foot tri-hull at $675 sold in the thousands. The plant it moved to at Nashville, Georgia in 1976 is claimed to be the largest single-site boat works in the world.
