Tom Nelson had come up from apprentice to yard president, built 70- to 90-foot custom yachts and run Nordic Tugs before starting his own in 1999. The first boat, the 34, sits on an Alaska fishing hull that Seattle designer Lynn Senour had drawn in the early eighties. Six to ten boats a year, still.
