Joseph Scott Harrell wanted a trailerable boat that could still fish offshore, and the Albemarle 24 of 1978 was it. Owners started asking for bigger ones almost immediately. Around 3,600 boats have been built at Edenton since, all of them carrying the same sweeping Carolina flare.
